When buying boys’ clothes, one of the important things to remember is that these new purchases will not be able to be worn all year round as the climate changes with each season, which make clothes inappropriate or uncomfortable for some seasons. You will also notice that in some seasons the clothes are less expensive and come in many varieties, but as usual, when buying boys’ clothes for each season we have to keep in mind that they are growing more every day and so a limitation has to be placed on the number of purchases and more importantly keep to the budget.
For Spring
No more heavy winter coats, no more bulky winter boots. Springtime has arrived, and with it comes an entirely different set of clothing to keep him cool and comfortable in the warmer days ahead. But of course, we should also remember that during the initial weeks of the season, sometimes a slight bout of chill will hit the air and we have to be prepared for it.
The first recommended piece of clothing for your boy is the ever-versatile polo shirt. This is the season where its versatility shines. Because this time of the year is a time for bright and playful hues, go ahead and stock his wardrobe with different colors of polo shirts. An appropriate bottom would be a pair of shorts if it is a sunny warm day or a pair of jeans or khaki if it is not. This coordination would look great and is casual enough to wear to school and even play.
Because the transition from winter to spring can be tricky, so we must be prepared for those unexpected chilly days. Take the early days as an example. He will definitely not be comfortable in a t-shirt and shorts. Pick up a few flannel shirts for these times, and these can be paired with his favorite bottoms.
Springtime is also very festive, with many events happening, from normal family gatherings to weddings. Make sure that he is prepared for any event, keeping in mind that comfort is the most important. Get quick and easy separates that can be mixed and matched to create different cute outfits, unless the occasion calls for extreme formal where something new may need to be purchased.
For Summer
As spring moves closer to summer, we can breathe a sigh of relief and say goodbye to the cold and chills as we look forward to warmer weather. Now is a good time to start snapping up some shorts for boys along with graphic tees or polos, and slip-on shoes.
Now is the time we have to keep the fabric choice in mind, especially because it is hot outside. Remember comfort is key. If your boy is active choose clothes made of material that will wick moisture away from the skin, like cotton and polyester that will keep him cool and comfortable, and will also keep him as dry as possible. As a mother of a boy, you can agree that finding the appropriate clothing for them all the time is very hard.
For summer there are lots of colors to choose from, however, it is best to stick with light-colored cotton clothes as boys sweat a lot and cotten is a great sweat absorber. As usual, these colors can be mixed and matched to create great outfits.
For Autumn
This season can be very unpredictable. Traveling with an extra layer of warmth like a fleece jacket or hoodie is a great idea. Go for autumn colors, such as burnt orange, brown, or tan. Plaid will also look great. As sure as the leaves will fall to the ground, boys are going to need new outfits at this time.
There are activities that only happen at this time. Apart from the first day of school, there will also be the hayride, the leaf jumper, and the pumpkin picker, just to name a few. Then after comes Thanksgiving dinner with the family and maybe close friends of the family. For this occasion, your boy will be all dressed up. Do not forget the after-Thanksgiving games which he will be involved in as well.
For winter
This is the season when we get extreme cold weather and making sure boys are warm and comfortable is the top priority. So we now have to think of the layers that will be needed.
Firstly, the outer layer, which is direct protection from the weather, should be windproof and waterproof. It is also recommended to have a hood that will prevent rain and snow from getting in. They should also have fastenings or drawstrings to keep the warmth inside while keeping rain, wind, and snow out. Let us not forget the scarves, gloves, and beanies.
Consider purchasing snowsuits for playing in the snow. Also, a waterproof insulated jacket and bib for extra warmth when and where it is needed. A 3-in-1 jacket is a great addition. Boys are not known to be patient and this addition will be easy to both put on and take off as long as all the layers remained fastened together. For the boy who will spend extended time in the snow, think of waterproof over pants.
Conclusion
Normal shopping for boys can be a challenge. Making sure each season has appropriate clothing can be hard sometimes. We can however admit that some seasons are pretty easy. So we take the easy as they come and we do the same with the hard. So, we can start planning for each season prior to the end of the one we are in to make it easier on both ourselves as mothers and on our sons. For spring we say goodbye to heavy winter coats, for summer we can breathe a sigh of relief and have him in shorts and tees. Come autumn we have to prepare for unpredictable weather and then there is winter and before we know it we are back again to winter jackets.
