Buying Boys Clothes Online – Disadvantages

Spread the love

The advantages of online shopping are very clear, whether for convenience, saving time, variety, or saving money. It is clear that there are many reasons people buy boys’ clothes online. In this busy world, and with our busy schedules, we are looking for an easier way to do our shopping so we will definitely look at all the advantages of online shopping. However there are two sides to this coin, so on the flip side, we will look at some disadvantages of buying boys’ clothes online.

Product Issues

Some people may worry about buying boys’ clothes online because of the sizes. Sizes are more often imprecise. Some sizes for some brands fit big while the same size for another brand fits smaller. They do not have the option of trying on the clothes before they are purchased. So they worry about returning the item if it does not fit properly. Others worry about the choice of color. Unless you are familiar with a brand and its products, buying online is putting faith in action, which does not always turn out as you hope it would. Even though you will be given the fabric, the texture is not known. Neither can you determine the fit, quality, or durability by only looking at an image. Clothes might look great online but may feel chintzy or cheap when you actually receive them. So in essence, you do not really know what you are getting. Online shopping takes away the hands-on experience to feel the clothing that is being purchased, which assured us that the item is valid, durable, and also that it is in good condition.

No Sales Assistance

Traditionally in a store, there is always someone to assist you with finding the correct sizes or right colors. However online because there is no one to talk with if you have doubts or are confused or have a question about a particular item you will be left with either canceling your order or choosing blindly which does not always end up to your liking, because you are on your own.  This human touch to shopping which also fosters relations between sellers and shoppers, and shoppers with other shoppers is removed from online shopping. You will find boys’ clothes by just interacting and the boys can also accompany you to choose their clothes, after all,  it’s their clothes. They can choose based on the physical item instead of them looking on a screen at what you choose. It also helps them to ask any questions or ask for assistance

Online Burn Out

Where your job requires that you sit looking at a computer screen all day, in addition to adding online shopping to all that screen time you might experience a burnout. Shopping online can turn into a marathon sometimes with all that scrolling and clicking and before you realize it, you are on the device for hours. Being online is quite a nice place to visit, but you do not wish to spend 75% of your spare time there. Also these days a lot of jobs are done online. So if you work online and shop online you may never get out of your home. This might be good for a while but to relieve some of that stress which will cause burn out you might want to go outside to get some fresh air, enjoy the scenery, talk to your neighbor or just be part of the crowd and interact with your community. Go to the traditional stores and browse around. You may consider making this a family outing where the family is doing something together outside the home. All these are eliminated with online shopping.

Fraud

If you shop online you run the risk of being a victim of fraud. With so many products and services moving to online stores the matter of fraud is also on the increase. You may not be sure how secure your credit card information is after you have released it. You worry about credit card scams, phishing, and identity theft. You also worry about fake websites and counterfeit products from fake brands. Some sites will ask for a lot of information which draws suspicion and cause you to think twice before paying for the items selected. There is not a clear description of the items and there is no shipping and return policy. Some retailers will make this process easy, but others will make it extra hard for any returns on their items. However, if you go to a traditional store and hand-picked your items, you eliminate the need to return them. Some websites are plain unfriendly and very complicated. So sometimes you will feel more protected going out and getting the item you need.

Additional disadvantages of online shopping

(1) Lost support for local retailers – If we all start doing our shopping online all the traditional stores would go out of business. This would result in the loss of jobs which would not be good for the economy.

(2) Shipping problems and delays – Even the best shipping companies will have challenges sometimes which can result in your item not being delivered on time.

(3) The environmental impact – With all the extra plastic and cardboard used for packaging, it is creating unnecessary waste which impacts our environment negatively.

Conclusion

In some cases, it may be easier to do all your shopping online, however, there are some disadvantages to this type of shopping. We would all love to know that what we purchased is what is delivered to our doors. We want to be sure that the size and colors are correct and that the material is durable and in good condition. We do not want any issues with our items. We also are more comfortable shopping where there is someone to help clear our doubts and confusion and also to answer any questions we may have about an item. We would also eliminate the return of any item bought. The health benefits of going outside getting some fresh air and interacting with our community when we can are priceless. We certainly do not want to sit at home all day, every day. Finally, all the worries about online fraud can be eliminated. We would not have to worry about phishing, identity theft, and all other types of online scams. Neither would we worry about fake brands and counterfeit products. Shopping in a traditional store for the reasons mentioned would make shopping less stressful.
